A magnificent type, Pillar Of Hercules was purchased by Caulfield trainer Peter Moody for $475,000 at the 2006 Sydney Easter Yearling sale and after just seven starts was sold to new owners for $1.8 million.He trained on to win the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes at Caulfield and was also placed in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap where he beat Group 1 winners such as first season sire Turffontein, Valedictum and Littorio.By the 5-time Group1 winning son of Danehill in Rock Of Gibraltar and from the Brocco mare Coat, Pillar Of Hercules is from a leading stallion producing family. Coat is a half-sister to Champion 2YO Sire Catbird and the promising young stallions Danbird and Bearcat while this is also the family of successful sire Maizcay. Already the sire of 10 stakes winners, Rock Of Gibraltar is also represented at stud in Australia by the Group 1 placed Murtajill and the Group 1 winner Mount Nelson.Described by Champion trainer Peter Moody as "One heck of a horse." and "A magnificent type with a fantastic pedigree."
