Mudge grew up in racing stables, he served his jockey apprenticeship with his father before switching to the breeding industry. Working for Sir Patrick Hogan, at the famed Cambridge Stud, he honed his skills on a who’s who of horseflesh. His other positions included Fieldhouse Stud and managing Fayette Park. He moved to Australia in 2000, where he developed his business skills in Sydney before moving to Victoria.
He is a regular at all yearling sales, noted as a good judge of a yearling, Mudge buys for private clients and short lists for several major trainers and agents. He loves the challenges of the breeding season, the complexities of yearling selection and farming in Northern Victoria
